Ti Fang — Tai Chi’s  '4 Ounce' Promise
with Stephen J. Goodson

Workshop Co-Sponsored by Wuwei Tai Chi Club

Stephen J. Goodson will present Ti-Fang, the soft uprooting method unique to Tai Chi. Following the teachings of Mr. Robert W. Smith, the writings of Professor Cheng Man-Ching and the Tai Chi Classics, the class will explore the subtle technique that allows “4 ounces to deflect a thousand pounds”. Using drills and practical tests, students will gain a deeper understanding of the substance and function that is built into Tai Chi's two-person exercises and the form—literally no speed, no strength and a light, four ounce touch.

Stephen is a senior student of the late Robert W. Smith.  Mr. Smith was a very well rounded martial artist and first western student of Cheng Man-Ching. Cheng and Smith wrote the seminal English text on the art called, "T'ai Chi, the Supreme Ultimate Exercise for Health, Sport and Self-defense".  Stephen is an accomplished teacher with almost forty years of experience, author of a new book on Tai Chi's Dalu two-man practice, and has clearly demonstrable skills in Bagua, Hsing-Yi and Tai Chi.

Stephen is a lively presenter and his last workshop with Wu Wei Tai Chi received very favorable reviews. He has some very unique insights to the practice of Tai Chi, we urge you not to miss this informative and fun workshop!

A substantial part of this workshop's proceeds will go to The David Chen Foundation, to promote other worthy projects in the Tai Chi community.
